Across our region we want to be the best at getting better - with continuous learning and improvement at the heart of everything we do, and in the way in which we work.
Through the sharing of learning, ideas, and good practice, and by trying new things together, we can find solutions to the challenges we face, and support each other to make a difference to the health of people living in our region.
Which is why in September 2022, we launched and started forming our learning and improvement community, bringing together people with a passion for improvement, innovation and change in health and care.
Our community builds on successes like the North East Transformation System and CLIC (Cumbria Learning and Improvement Community), and incorporates their long established and ground-breaking work to lead and embed a culture of co-production and learning.
Since holding our inaugural event, in September 2022, our community has grown from strength-to-strength. You can read more below, and find information on our upcoming and past events via our conferences page. Read about our journey so far in our blog.
Boost is the new name for our community. It provides a hub for innovation, idea-sharing, networking, and supporting improvement efforts across the North East and North Cumbria.
While Boost is hosted by the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, our community is open to anyone with an interest in driving forward change in health and care.
It's an opportunity for people to come together, share good ideas, promote new solutions, as well as learn when things don't go well.
Our ambition is for our community to be a vibrant and forward-thinking network, that everybody can benefit from.
Membership to our community is open to anyone with an interest in driving forward change in health and care in the North East and North Cumbria.
This includes people working in the NHS, local authorities, public health, voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE), people with lived experience, private sector providers and many more.
You can be from any discipline and at any stage in your career, all you need is a passion to improve health and care in the region.
Our community provides a hub where members can connect, share their experiences, and learn from one another.
By fostering a culture of collective problem-solving and continuous improvement, our community encourages its members to pool their expertise, ideas, and resources to find solutions that benefit the entire region.
Through workshops, and knowledge-sharing events, members can stay at the forefront of the latest developments, evidence-based practices, quality and continuous improvement leadership and emerging trends. Read about our journey so far in our blog.
You can also access a range of events and workshops, bringing together experts, thought leaders, and practitioners to share their insights and experiences.
These opportunities for face-to-face and virtual interactions provide a unique space for learning, networking, and idea exchange.
Joining our community and becoming a member offers health and care professionals, and individuals with lived experience, a vibrant and supportive community.
By connecting with others who share their passion for enhancing health and care, members gain access to a network of like-minded individuals, fostering collaboration.
We celebrate achievements, no matter how big or small.
By recognising and sharing successes, Boost motivates its members to continuously strive for excellence, spurring a positive cycle of improvement and learning.

In addition to our inaugural learning and improvement event in September 2022, our community has met to discuss the challenges we face on some key issues and we have agreed some key priority areas – which includes improving transfers of care and helping children, young people and families to get the right mental health support at the right time.
Our inaugural learning and community event – 21 September 2022
Transfer of care event – 9 March 2023
Boosting women's health – 19 October 2023
Always the right door – helping children, young people and families to get the right mental health support at the right time – 25 October 2023
All our events bring diverse minds together and have initiated a wave of positive influence in health and care practices across the region. At all our events there has been a clear commitment and enthusiasm in the room for change and to move ‘at pace’ to share learning and work collectively across health and care to improve care for patients and our communities in these key areas.
