
Poverty Proofing© is a Children North East programme that is used to educate and help health and care professionals to spot and reduce the impact of poverty. It advocates for equal access to healthcare to improve health outcomes for those living in poverty.
Available through our learning academy, the training, resources, and events provided will equip you with an awareness about how poverty can affect access to healthcare to use in your workplace. It also explores how decision making around healthcare can be affected by the bias and stigma people living in poverty face. All of this has been informed through the Poverty Proofing programmes, and is based on lived experience.

The Poverty Awareness training will outline Poverty Proofing© methodology and ethos, inform people about the diverse experiences of those who are experiencing poverty and facilitate informed discussions.

An hour long session examining how stigma and unconscious bias is experienced by those in poverty that encourages us to look at our own preconceptions.
