A brand-new NHS-endorsed fellowship is now open to clinicians and emerging leaders who want to improve cardiovascular, renal and metabolic care across the North East & Yorkshire.
This programme has been designed and supported by Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, Health Innovation North East & North Cumbria (HI NENC), and all four local Integrated Care Boards (ICBs).
It is a 9-month regional development programme open to a wide range of professions.
It is designed to build leadership, innovation, and improvement capability across cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic (CVRM) care across the North East & North Cumbria and Yorkshire & Humber regions.
The fellowship is open to clinicians and transformation staff working at the primary care network (PCN), neighbourhood or place level. This includes:
Fellows will develop practical skills in:
Learning is delivered through:
Participants will lead a supported neighbourhood-level project aligned to ICB priorities, focusing on measurable improvements in CVDRM outcomes.
Fellows are expected to commit around 1.5 hours per week and attend at least 80% of learning sessions.
The programme offers expert coaching and mentoring, access to regional peers, and the opportunity to create lasting impact in local communities.
Professor Julia Newton, Medical Director for HI NENC, said: “Cardiovascular, renal and metabolic (CVRM) conditions are closely linked, and patients experience them together, not in isolation. Taking a CVRM approach supports more joined-up, preventative care.
“We’re proud to support the Fellowship and encourage clinicians and system leaders to apply and make a real difference for patients.”
