This Connect & Learn session on 15 October 2024 saw Sue Wallis (Senior Project Manager, Hospital at Home Programme, British Red Cross) and Louise Hedley (Health Operations Manager, British Red Cross) deliver a presentation on ‘Learning from the North Cumbria Hospital at Home Pilot’.
Our Connect & Learns are a series of online learning events, planned with the purpose of sharing and spreading improvement work across the North East and North Cumbria health and care system.
Each with a different focus, the Connect & Learns are more than just information-sharing – they are an opportunity for you to connect with like-minded colleagues around a specific topic, to generate ideas, and take forward improvements in your own work, team, or service.
As hospital at home/virtual ward services expand, it is even more important that services offer equity of access, experience, and outcomes. This session explored recent research by the British Red Cross into how health inequalities can be addressed in hospital at home services and the lessons learned from the Hospital at Home service partnership between North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) and the British Red Cross (funded by North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board).
