Improve your knowledge and understanding about D/deaf people and the challenges they face every day.
We are pleased to announce there are three deaf awareness modules available to anyone, which can be accessed via our learning academy (in the inclusion health section of the Healthcare Inequalities programme).
By taking part, you can find out how to support colleagues, patients/service users, and members of our communities to have the same opportunities that hearing people have.
The modules include:
Deaflink Module 1 – Understanding Deafness
- Increase understanding of D/deaf
- Identify different levels of D/deafness
- Use appropriate and non-discriminatory language
- Consider the myths and stereotypes around D/deafness
- Recognise Deaf culture and its impact
- Recognise the need for accessible information and communication systems
