As we approach the end of another year, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for the upcoming holidays and thank you for your ongoing support. Whether you’re a seasoned Boost member, or have recently discovered us and the work we do – everyone is welcome in our collective journey to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in the North East and North Cumbria.

Throughout 2024, we have continued in our efforts to learn, connect, lead, and improve. There have been lots highlights and important work happening. Just some of these have included:

  • Our recent LOC in the Lakes conference, which focused on tackling obesity in our region. Over 200 colleagues and citizens from across health and care joined the conference to explore, ‘what is the difference that will make the difference this time?’. It was fantastic to see so many people come together to share innovations, create fresh ideas for change, and continue the real work to address this issue. Read more here…
  • We launched the learning academy, which offers a wide range of courses, seminars, and events, all designed to support our commitment to improving health equity and better wellbeing for the population we serve. Read more here…
  • The Connect & Learn and Lunch & Learn sessions we run have gone from strength-to-strength, and we have seen a number of inspirational improvement stories shared and discussed. From building community power to using affirming professional language, we’ve appreciated the variety of topics our speakers have presented. Missed a session? You can watch all the recordings on our YouTube channel…
  • More than 2,000 people have walked through our (virtual) doors for online training sessions in leadership and improvement. In March, we welcomed Profession Michael West for a masterclass in compassionate leadership for whole system working, and we have continued to deliver our ever-popular coaching, wellbeing, co-production, and improvement training. More dates have been released for 2025, and you can book your place here…

The list could go on, but we know – Christmas is coming!

Looking ahead to 2025…

As we look ahead to next year, we will be prioritising:

Growing our offer on addressing health inequalities. There are unfair and avoidable differences in health across the population and between different groups within society. In our region, we face some significant challenges in relation to health inequalities. You can find out more about these in our Integrated Care Strategy. We will be supporting, sharing, and building on the great work that’s already happening to create better health and wellbeing for all.

Over the next year we will be increasing our learning and improvement community membership – reaching more of you out there who are living and working in the North East and North Cumbria. We want to bring citizens into the work that we do, as we recognise that they often have the ideas and solutions that would work for their local communities. When we get it right, co-production can be extremely powerful in the context of improvement and innovation. Keen to develop your skills in co-production? Join one of our planned working with communities sessions…

We look forward to supporting you, and to the year ahead.

Not forgetting – looking after yourself…
