Following on from our LOC healthy weight and treating obesity conference, we would like to invite you to the launch of our Community of Practice. We want to capitalise on the energy and enthusiasm from the event, to create momentum to learn and improve together and to support the key actions of the day.
The Community of Practice will take place on 12 February 2025, 2:00pm – 3:30pm, Online: Microsoft Teams.
We will be joined by Sam Joughlin, Director and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (Together We), who will be presenting: Beyond the scale: Psychological aspects of obesity. We will explore some of the development and maintaining factors of disordered eating which are often seen within individuals living with obesity, including trauma, core low self-esteem and mood intolerance. The session will include lived experience in the form of service user voices from the North Cumbria Disordered Eating Project, which explain why emotional eating became such a big part of their lives.
This will be a great opportunity to learn together and look at ways we can create a social movement to eradicate stigma.
This is also your chance to shape what the community of practice looks like going forward, what it hopes to achieve and the work that will continue to make a difference.
