Be Epilepsy Aware

In partnership with Epilepsy Action, the North East and North Cumbria Learning Disability Network has launched Be Epilepsy Aware — a free, accessible online epilepsy awareness course.

Co-produced with people with a learning disability, the course has been developed to be inclusive and easy to understand. It aims to empower individuals with a learning disability to better understand epilepsy and manage their condition, while also educating those without epilepsy to provide more informed support.

The course is delivered in an easy read format and includes interactive elements and bitesize videos, making it engaging and suitable for a wide audience.

The course covers:

  • What is epilepsy?
  • Different types of seizures
  • What happens after the first seizure?
  • Treatments
  • Seizure triggers
  • Staying safe
  • Staying happy
  • True or False
