The North East and Cumbria Learning Disability Network will be holding their first ever Learning Disability Diamond Awards as part of their Sharing Innovation and Learning Conference on the 5 December 2024 in central Newcastle.

This is an exciting opportunity to nominate individuals, teams or organisations who are Learning Disability Diamonds to celebrate the contribution and work they do in improving the lives of people with a learning disability across the North East and North Cumbria. The awards are open to anybody including health and care colleagues, education sector, community voluntary sector, people with a learning disability and family / carers.

The categories are:

• Outstanding contribution by an individual to tackle inequalities for people with a learning disability and their families.
• Outstanding contribution by a team to tackle inequalities for people with a learning disability and their families.
• Inclusion award – excellence in all areas of co-production with people with a learning disability and families that drives improvement.
• Innovative ways of working of an individual or team that goes about and beyond usual ways of working to improve the lives of people with a learning disability and families.
• Lifetime achievement of an individual or team who have tirelessly campaigned to improve the lives of people with a learning disability and families.

The nomination process will open on 2 September 2024 and will close at 5pm on the 5 October 2024.
