The ‘Leading Self, Teams and Organisations’ is a leadership programme designed for women from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, working across the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System. This fully funded programme is offered in partnership with North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB).

Working in partnership with North East and Yorkshire Leadership Academy, a new programme has been designed to support leadership development of women working across health and social care. This fully funded offer is open to those working across the North East and North Cumbria region, in any role or organisation (NHS, local authority or third sector).

This programme is designed for women from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, who are underrepresented in certain roles and pay bands, who are new to leadership, are looking to upskill their leadership role or who are managing a team or project.

The programme is designed to encourage and develop positive, people-centred leadership practices in health and care, holding the NHS People Promise at its heart. We believe this will be a valuable opportunity for personal and professional growth, and encourage those seeking to develop their career within health and care to participate.

Programme Structure

The programme is made up of 6 x 3 hour sessions, plus a range of additional resources to watch, listen or read and then reflect and apply learning as individuals, within teams and across organisations.

Cohort 1

• Induction – 24 October 2024, 9:00am – 12:00pm
• Session 1 – 7 November 2024, 9:00am – 12:00pm
• Session 2 – 10 December 2024, 9:00am – 12:00pm
• Session 3 – 9 January 2025, 9:00am – 12:00pm
• Session 4 – 4 February 2025, 9:00am – 12:00pm
• Session 5 – 25 March 2025, 9:00am – 12:00pm
• Session 6 – 15 May 2025, 9:00am – 12:00pm

Cohort 2

• Induction – 24 October 2024, 9:00am – 12:00pm
• Session 1 – 21 November 2024, 1:00pm – 4:00pm
• Session 2 – 12 December 2024, 1:00pm – 4:00pm
• Session 3 – 15 January 2025, 1:00pm – 4:00pm
• Session 4 – 13 February 2025, 1:00pm – 4:00pm
• Session 5 – 1 April 2025, 1:00pm – 4:00pm
• Session 6 – 21 May 2025, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Please ensure that you are able to attend all sessions of your chosen Cohort including the programme Induction on 24 October (this session is attended by both cohorts).

Before applying for a place on this offer please ensure that you:

• Have the support of your line manager, and can be released to attend all sessions
• Are able to attend the cohort dates and times as advertised (it will not be possible to swap between cohorts)
• Have identified a mentor who can support you to apply the learning from this programme
• Are able to access Teams; all sessions will be virtual delivery, but are participatory in structure. It is expected that all delegates join each session “camera on”, and working from an area that allows them to fully participate in group discussions and activities
