Brought to you by CLIC in collaboration with North Cumbria Knowledge and Library Service, this Lunch & Learn session on 20 October 2022 saw Martin Wilson (Director, TIN Arts) deliver a presentation on ‘Collaborative approaches to addressing health inequalities through the arts’.
This session described the work of the South Tees Arts Project (STAR), which is an innovative, cross-sector, locality-based dance and health project in South Tees (Tees Valley).
STAR involves an active research strand that aims to understand better the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of taking part in dance and wider arts activities, and how these support participants through creative and engaging ways to express themselves and develop self-awareness, identity, social and emotional learning skills. As well as supporting young people, this collaborative arts project also supported their families in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in South Tees.
