Brought to you by Boost in collaboration with North Cumbria Knowledge and Library Service, this LUNCH & LEARN session on 21 May 2025 saw Sam Fielding (Campaign Manager, Flippin’ Pain) deliver a presentation on ‘Flippin’ the way we think about, talk about and treat persistent pain: the Flippin’ Pain approach’.
Pain: do you GET it? Over the last 40 years, there has been a lot a lot of game-changing research about how pain works. However, very little of this information has filtered down to the public and professionals alike.
Learning more about how pain works has proven to change the way people see and treat persistent pain: it can reduce the fear around it and can even change how pain feels. This is why Flippin’ Pain shares the latest science of pain with the people who need it the most, combining community outreach and professional training in a range of unique, engaging and accessible ways.
In this session, Sam explored Flippin’ Pain’s award-winning approach to pain science education. She provided an overview on the resources available, showcasing their surprising findings to date, and sparking ideas on how Flippin’ Pain can better support our communities in the North East and North Cumbria.
