Two Specialist Nutrition Nurses from Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, Amy Molloy and Louise Dudey, have been nationally recognised for their innovative work in community care.
They have been shortlisted for the 2025 Complete Nutrition (CN) Awards in the ‘Community Nutrition Professional of the Year’ category.
Their nomination highlights the success of the Enteral Feeding Alert project, a system that flags patients with feeding tubes in hospital records. This alert ensures timely specialist intervention, improving patient outcomes and reducing unnecessary hospital admissions.
The project has been in place since 2022 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.
