A great tool has been developed to support organisations to improve the way technology is used in housing and care to enable people to live more independently.
It has been developed by the TAPPI (Technology for our Ageing Population) programme which is funded by Dunhill Medical Trust and supported by a partnership of Housing LIN, TSA, Co-Production Works and Cambridge Centre for Housing & Planning Research.
The toolkit provides a framework of six principles that can not only support the approach to embedding technology-enabled care, but also help in the shaping of future services. It follows a six-month inquiry which heard from more than 30 experts and people with lived experience about the barriers they face and best practice from across the country. These principles will be embedded as part of our regional Health, Housing and Care Programme which is focused on delivering better, more integrated housing, care, and support so that people can be healthy, live well, and stay independent in their own home. The programme has been co-created by the North East branch of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS), our Integrated Care Board, the Northern Housing Consortium, and the TEC Services Association (TSA) with the involvement of many other partners too. We welcome other organisations to take a look at this approach and explore how it could be adopted.
