The Cumberland Health and Care Summit was held on Friday 3 October, which brought together the council, NHS, public health, voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, and healthcare providers.
With the pressures of an aging population and increased demand on services, there was a clear remit for all attendees to take time to rethink traditional approaches and work together, explore, and find fresh solutions. Attendees were also encouraged to take the opportunity to connect with new colleagues, all of whom share a common goal: improving services and outcomes for the people of Cumberland.
There was an atmosphere of hope and determination at the event, with a range of speakers highlighting the need for real transformation and reform. Kerrie Allward, executive director adult social care and public health at Walsall Council, provided an insight into the collective approach in Walsall and their achievements.
It was a day very much focused on coming together as partners to create a brighter future for Cumberland’s communities. There was certainly a shared commitment to transformation, and the event marked the beginning of a new chapter in providing care in Cumberland, ensuring that no one is left behind.
