Social Prescribing Link Workers across the North East and North Cumbria are being invited to take part in a new free skills development programme this autumn.

Delivered by Teesside Mind in partnership with VONNE, the programme offers two practical training workshops designed to support continued professional development and strengthen person-centred practice in social prescribing.

The training is provided through VONNE’s Healthy Communities and Social Prescribing Programme, funded by the North East and North Cumbria ICB’s Healthier and Fairer Programme.

Workshop one: Goal setting

  • How can I support people to identify goals that genuinely matter to them?
  • What makes a goal realistic, meaningful and achievable?
  • How do I maintain momentum when progress slows or challenges arise?
  • How can I help people recognise and celebrate the progress they are making?

This practical workshop explores collaborative approaches to goal setting. It will help practitioners support people to identify goals that genuinely matter to them, keep momentum when challenges arise, and recognise progress along the way.

Workshop two: Supporting positive endings and sustainable change

  • Why can ending support sometimes feel difficult for both practitioners and the people they support?
  • How do I know when someone is ready to move on from social prescribing support?
  • How can I promote independence while ensuring people feel empowered and connected?
  • What does a safe, strengths-based and person-centred ending look like?

This reflective workshop focuses on how to support safe, strengths-based and person-centred endings. It will explore how practitioners can promote independence, celebrate progress and help people build on the skills, confidence and networks they have developed through social prescribing.

Sessions will run throughout September, October and November, with options to attend in Newcastle, Middlesbrough or online. The programme is open to all Social Prescribing Link Workers working across the North East and North Cumbria.
