Brought to you by Boost in collaboration with North Cumbria Knowledge and Library Service, this LUNCH & LEARN session on 2 July 2025 saw Alison Mason (Advanced Paediatric Physiotherapist (Early Years), Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) deliver a presentation on ‘Starting2Move… on the move!’.
In this session, Alison shared details of a new physiotherapy-led project focused on promoting physical activity in early childhood at a community and population level.
Funded by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, with additional support from Newcastle Hospitals Charity, the project will run a series of movement-focused events across the North East and North Cumbria, in partnership with the NHS MELISSA Bus. These events aim to provide families with practical information and advice about childhood movement, free resources and offer space for questions and support.
This work builds on the Starting2Move project, which led to the creation of the Early Years Movement Hub by the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists (APCP). The collective goal is simple: to make it easier for every family to access credible, practical and inclusive information to support childhood movement – there might even be some direction to movement advice for the whole family (watch this space).
